Sea of Erupting Voices
In collaboration with Jujube Jacinto and Michael Levin
A rapper; a dancer; a clarinet solo. All set on the stage of a traditional powerpoint presentation. Exploring trauma, prescribed femininity, socioeconomic struggles, and questions of identity, this work speaks to both enormous heartache and tremendous resilience. How can one claim selfhood within the confines of intersecting institutional frameworks? This chaotic collaboration seeks to expose the multiple barriers many of us are faced with, particularly those living in the Downtown Eastside.
Based on a rap by Jujube.
This 6-month project was sponsored by the Vancouver Foundation's Downtown Eastside Small Arts Grants.
