Sewing Circles

In collaboration with Kristin Rochelle Lantz, EWMA and Gallery Gachet.

Free, accessible and inclusive workshops for self-identified woman. A sewing circle where Sally Ann skirts are hemmed, scented pot holders are made (clove or lavender), embroidery stitches are swapped, and stories and knowledge are shared. An opportunity to come out of the rain during the darkest months in Vancouver.

“The program is inclusive of all [self-identified] women in Vancouver’s downtown eastside who have been affected by violence (including aboriginal, immigrant, visible minorities, senior women and women with physical or mental disabilities) and operates from a harm reduction, low threshold, and anti-oppressive framework with the goal to offer immediate income-generating alternatives.”

No photographs of the events are published to preserve the safety and anonymity of participants.

EWMA (Enterprising Women Making Art) every second Monday between 4-6pm
